About
Jared Speight is an Instructional Design Specialist on Mayo Clinic's Revenue Cycle Education and Continuous Improvement team where he has been awarded the academic rank of Instructor of Health Care Administration and recognized as a Bronze Mayo Quality Fellow by Mayo Clinic's College of Medicine and Science.
He holds a master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology from the American College of Education and is certified as a Section 508 Trusted Tester and Project Management Professional (PMP).
When he’s not designing accessible learning experiences, Jared can be found losing to his daughter in an assortment of card games, reading fantasy novels with his son, spoiling television show plot lines for his wife, or playing Pokémon Go.

As an instructional designer, this means creating instructional experiences that center the learners’ needs, utilizing evidence-based universal design practices that support all learners, and ensuring that instructional courses and videos reflect the diversity of the learners. Professional Experience

• Manage Estimates, Financial Counselor, Transplant Financial Coordinator, Financial Assistance, Transplant Billing, Payer Liaison Analytics Team (PLAT), Transplant Follow-Up learning programs
• Partner with Continuous Improvement Coordinators to create new e-learning courses with Articulate Storyline and Rise to support front-end Revenue Cycle staff
• Create Section 508-compliant e-learning templates for Revenue Cycle's IDS team -
Designed and developed an online course for Literacy Connection to onboard new volunteers and provide continuing education credits to existing staff, leading to a reduction of 60 hours of annual administrative work while increasing access to more potential volunteers.
Created a learning tool for the B4NP podcast to guide guests through the end-to-end process of setting up podcast equipment, uploading audio files, and sending equipment back to the producer leading to 100% of guests completing the process as described and rating the tool to be easy to access, understand, and follow.
Currently working with SMEs on the North Carolina Council on the Holocaust to create an interactive learning experience profiling Holocaust survivors who moved to North Carolina after World War II to be used by middle and high school educators in the 2024-2025 school year.
Created rapid e-learning courses for Etsy and Zoom

Collaborated with SMEs to develop thirty-three accessible courses, forty-one instructional videos, and twenty-nine job aids for adult learners with a 100% satisfaction rating from project sponsors and subject matter experts.
Collaborated with senior leaders to create a new workflow for developing responsive e-learning textbooks with Articulate Rise for external clients.
Conducted twenty-five quality assurance peer reviews for e-learning courses and job aids to check for accessibility and compliance with legal and branding guidelines

Revised sixteen e-learning lessons with Articulate Storyline according to storyboards and review feedback as a part of the Junior Achievement’s Content Production team
Created and revised e-learning assets and instructional videos to support the learning process
Ensured learning objects meet accessibility standards regarding alt-text, focus order, and captioning

Asheville Middle School (2020 - 2022)
Created learning content and instructional materials utilizing Canvas Learning Management System to teach eight sections of English Language Arts to 160 diverse learners in virtual, hybrid, and in-person settings resulting in students meeting expected growth projections on summative evaluations
Conducted needs assessments, evaluated student data, and collaborated with subject matter experts to improve instructional outcomes for learners with varying achievement levels
North Stanly High School (2015 - 2020)
Employed backward design to create learning experiences for 750+ students resulting in students meeting expected growth projections and outperforming the district average on summative assessments
Co-led a gamification workshop at NCTIES 2017, a state-wide educational technology conference, and led workshops at the school and district level on educational technology
Piloted the roll-out of our school-wide volunteer program and tracking software and created training materials for students and staff
Northwest Middle School (2011 - 2015)
Implemented effective instructional practices resulting in students meeting or exceeding growth projections on their summative evaluations every year
Managed a Professional Learning Community of eight teachers on Flipped Instruction resulting in 100% of participants gaining certification from Sophia Learning
Redesigned Tier I supports, developed Tier II interventions, and created training materials for school’s PBIS program.
Facilitated training workshops on educational technology and integrating gamification strategies to enhance learning

Designed and developed the curriculum map for North Carolina and American History aligned to newly updated learning objectives, state standards, and career-readiness goals
